With Hofstra Law students logging in to their computers to watch, the Moot Court Board hosted its Spring 2020 Competition virtually on Monday, April 13.

“The students who have organized the final rounds of the Law School’s internal moot court competition worked very hard to coordinate and execute the entire event in a virtual format,” said Professor Barbara Barron,  faculty advisor to Moot Court Board. “Student advocacy has been a hallmark of our Law School. Their success demonstrates online advocacy whether in the virtual classroom or virtual courtroom works.”

Hofstra Law students Rivka Shuter and Shannon Sciaretta were named the winning team, and Kelly McKinney won best oral advocate. The competition was judged by Professors Juli Campagna and Theo Liebmann.

“The Moot Finals are always a point of great pride for the Moot E-board, and staff members, to see up-and-coming law students find their passion for appellate advocacy,” said Hofstra Law student Sean Tyrrell, president of the Moot Court Board. “Unfortunately, this year our intramural competition was disrupted due to the Coronavirus pandemic, but we still wanted to recognize the efforts and energy of our participants in the 2020 Moot Court Intramural Competition.”
