Professor Blair Thompson has co-authored an Amicus brief on behalf of the National Law Schools Veterans Clinic Consortium (NLSVCC), which was filed in the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on July 7, 2020, in the case of Monk v. Wilkie, no. 19-1094.
Monk v. Wilkie is an appeal brought by the Yale Veterans’ Clinic on behalf of a group of Veterans who waited over one year for a decision from the Board of Veterans’ Appeals, and who are seeking class certification under Federal Rule of Civil Procedure 23(a).
Hofstra Law students who were Summer Clinical Fellows in the Veterans Law Clinic assisted with research for and writing of the early drafts of the Amicus brief. Those students are: Marcella Bitelman, Kamila Marek, Valerie Nemcheninova, Katie O’Leary, and Anthony Roman. They are all rising 3Ls.
