On September 29, the Maurice A. Deane School of Law hosted a free virtual training session for participants to learn how to use the New York State Courts’ e-filing system, NYSCEF. The training session, which was co-presented with the NYSCEF Resource Center, reviewed how to file and serve legal documents electronically with the Supreme Court.
The session was taught by an experienced NYSCEF trainer and Hofstra Law Professor John Tsiforas, Director of Law & Technology, Director of Distance Education, Director of Analytics, and Visiting Assistant Professor of Law.
“The development of the New York State Courts Electronic Filing system, and its expansion to new case types in courts around the State, is one of the Court System’s most important and productive technological initiatives in recent years. Training attorneys, law students and others on how to use NYSCEF effectively is a crucial part of the e-filing program,” said Hon. Lawrence K. Marks, Chief Administrative Judge of the Courts of New York State. “We are delighted that, with the support of Judge Gail Prudenti, Dean of Hofstra Law, Professor John Tsiforas and our NYSCEF staff have worked together to plan and present this virtual NYSCEF training module.”
The training session was attended by more than 300 attorneys, legal assistants, paralegals, litigation support staff, and unrepresented litigants. Hofstra Law plans to host additional training sessions as part of its growing legal technology offerings.
