On July 18, 2022, Kerlann Flowers ’07, legal director of Hofstra Law medical-legal partnership and Jean D. Krebs ’20, a senior fellow at the Gitenstein Institute for Health Law and Policy discussed the work of the medical-legal partnership (MLP) on the Health Law Diagnosed podcast.
Launched in 2018, the MLP between Hofstra Law and Northwell Health was created to provide legal services for patients facing issues that contribute to poor health, such as income, employment, immigration, housing, and personal and family issues.
The MLP also offers students a chance to gain experiential opportunities through its work with the Clinics.
“The great thing to add to what Kerlann is saying too, is that when you’re a student in the Clinic you get introduced to so many different areas of law,” says Krebs. “You also learn how to interact with clients and patients and really understand their case in order to find the best solution for them.”
