
On August 11, 2022, Hofstra Law Professor Michael Haber published an article in the Washington University Journal of Law and Policy called “Transactional Clinical Support for Mutual Aid Groups: Toward a Theory of Transactional Movement Lawyering,”68 Wash. U. J. L. & Pol’y 215 (2022).
The article tells the story of how the Hofstra Law Community Economic Development Clinic (CED) has provided legal support and information to hundreds of COVID-19 mutual aid groups and analyzes how this work does and does not align with scholarly analyses of “movement lawyering.” Ultimately, it argues that CED lawyers could deepen their impact through a meaningful engagement with movement lawyering principles.
