On February 7-11, 2024, four delegates from the Hofstra Law Black Law Students Association (BLSA) attended the 56th Northeast Black Law Students Association (NEBLSA) Annual Regional Convention in Buffalo, New York. The event included robust panel discussions with top experts, workshops, an award gala, and much more. This experience was made possible by Hofstra Law community donors.

This year’s theme “Boldness, Imprint, Legacy – It’s time to make your mark!,” encouraged students to be leaders in their communities and gave them the chance to collaborate with one another on ways to best serve their members. Convention attendees included BLSA President Dominique Edmonds 3L, Secretary Morriah Johnson 3L, Alexis Adrien 2L, and Shonette Greene 2L.
“One of my favorite things about being on the BLSA e-Board is the fact that I’m able to be a part of a group of individuals who are creating a community that’s safe for black students,” says Morriah. “One where we can share our experiences and also talk about ways that we can continue to grow in the legal profession. Coming to the notable and noteworthy NEBLSA Convention has been an amazing opportunity to meet with national and regional local chapter members about everything we’ve been working on with our BLSA chapters and ways we can make them better. It’s also been great to explore different areas of the law while also having real and raw conversations about what it’s like to be a black attorney. I’m very excited that I had the opportunity to come here. I’m excited to come back to Hofstra Law and share more of what I’ve learned.”
