
Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University alumna Shareema Gadson-Shaw ’99 earned the 2024 National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) Honorable Prentice H. Marshall Faculty Award for the development of innovative teaching methods.
Gadson-Shaw currently serves as the Deputy Chief of Litigation Training at the Office of the Bronx District Attorney in New York, where she trains Assistant District Attorneys, designs and implements the long-term strategic vision of the Bureau, and serves as a team trial consultant.
“Shareema is a true champion of innovation and inclusivity, not only is she a brilliant teacher, but she has also helped reshape NITA’s strategies on faculty development and recruitment through her work as part of the diversity working group and as a program director,” said one of her nominators. “She is always pushing NITA to meet the promise of our guiding principles.”
The Hofstra Law alumna has taught with NITA for more than 20 years, and instructs attorneys and law students on core concepts of trial advocacy, including, presenting opening and closing statements, civilian and expert witness examinations, introduction of evidence and crime scene preservation, introduction of evidence and closing arguments.
