Hofstra Law’s mock trial team of third-year students Collis Gittens and Isaiah Harris were regional finalists at the 2025 Texas Young Lawyers Association (TYLA) National Trial Competition in Syracuse, NY last month. More than 20 teams from the region competed in the tournament.
A second team consisting of Taylor Mavica, Caitlin McDonough and Hannah Gates ranked in the top half, and earned ninth place.
The teams were coached by alums Kaitlyn Flynn ’14, Julia Feron ’24, Adam Raffo ’09 and Jared Rosenblatt ’03, who also serves as a faculty advisor to the Hofstra Trial Advocacy Association.
The National Trial Competition, established in 1975, was created to encourage and strengthen students’ advocacy skills through quality competition and valuable interaction with members of the bench and bar. The program is co-sponsored by the American College of Trial Lawyers (ACTL) and is designed to expose law students to the nature of trial practice and to serve as a supplement to their education.
