Professor Ronald J. Colombo joined other constitutional law scholars on two amicus briefs in support of the Little Sisters of the Poor (before both the Third and Ninth Circuits). The briefs support the right of the Little Sisters, a religious order of nuns, to an exemption from the contraceptive mandate of the Affordable Care Act.
An exemption to the mandate was granted by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, but California, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey are challenging the exemption as unconstitutional.
