Professor Linda Galler was a featured panelist on July 21, 2021 at an International Symposium sponsored by the VIRTEU Project. The Symposium, “The Professionals: Dealing with the Enablers of Economic Crime,” explored the role of professionals (lawyers, accountants and auditors) as enablers of economic crime.  Professor Galler’s panel considered specific measures currently in place to address illegal or unethical behavior, assessing their strengths and weaknesses, and proposed improvements that could be made.

VIRTEU is a European Union funded eighteen month legal research project, which includes comparative and interdisciplinary studies, aimed at exploring the interconnections between tax crimes and corruption in an effort to unravel fraudulent and corrupt practices in the area of taxation. The Principal Investigators are faculty members at Manchester Law School and Coventry Law School in the United Kingdom.
