Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law was named the winner of the inaugural First Chair Competition for the New York Site, co-hosted by the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, the University of San Diego School of Law, and the UCLA School of Law. This year’s competition, co-sponsored by the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and the Legal Aid Society of Nassau County, was held from September 12-15 and featured 14 schools. In the finals, Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law defeated St. John’s School of Law.
The invitational mock trial event included two students from each competing school, with each student assigned to advocate for one side of the case. Over the course of three days, the rounds were held at the Nassau County Courthouse, providing a realistic setting for the proceedings. The 14 competing teams included:
