The Tax Law Society at Hofstra Law is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) clinic. VITA files tax returns for qualifying taxpayers who made $54,000 or less in 2016.
Last year, Tax Law Society students filed 86 returns for low-income individuals in the community as well as Hofstra Law students. They generated $142,000 — $118,977 from the federal government and $23,033 from the state — for their clients.
