The Village of Valley Stream, New York, on May 16 celebrated the opening of its new courthouse, which includes the Robert G. Bogle Courtroom.
The courtroom is named in honor of the longest-serving village justice (1986-2016), Hofstra Law alumnus the Honorable Robert G. Bogle ’82, who is now a Nassau County Court judge, supervising judge of the Nassau County Village Court and an acting New York State Supreme Court justice. He also previously served as acting city court judge for the City of Long Beach, New York, from 1995-2014.
Judge Bogle, a lifelong resident of Valley Stream, was appointed Valley Stream village justice when he was 28. “This village has always been good to me over the years,” he said at the opening celebration, adding that although his father died 50 years ago, his family’s involvement in village activities kept them in the area. “This is a great honor that will always be a part of my life.”
